PEG-MGF 2mg
PEG-MGF, which stands for Pegylated Mechanistic Growth Factor, is a long-acting variant of Mechanistic Growth Factor (MGF) with a significantly prolonged biological half-life. The main disadvantage of MGF (IGF-1Ec) is its extremely short half-life, lasting only a few minutes (about 5–7 minutes). To address this problem, pegylation is used, which involves attaching one or more polyethylene glycol (PEG) molecules to the protein or peptide.
Polyethylene glycol is an inert and non-toxic substance that provides an ideal protective barrier around the amino group due to its structure and flexibility. Because the body does not respond to PEG, it effectively increases the half-life of the protein or peptide. PEGylation is commonly used to protect substances susceptible to enzymatic degradation.
